Replacing Thermal Pads for MSI Ventus 3080Ti
Documenting my best results from multiple attempts at replacing thermal pads and paste on this card.
Out of the box, this card was getting core temps 70C+ and mem temps of 100C+.
Through trial and error, I eventually got core temps to the low 50s and mem temps to the 70s.
Materials Used
- Gelid Ultimate 3mm
- Gelid Ultimate 2mm
- Arctic MX-5 Thermal Paste
- Screwdriver
Note of Caution
There are two cables on one side that were extremely difficult to unplug, so I opened the card very slowly to avoid damage.
Most Successful Pad Configuration
The best configuration seemed to be Gelid Ultimates for everything. I also tried adding thin lines of thermal paste onto pads, which gave a small reduction.
